The country's enormous geographical diversity creates a wide range of navigation challenges, from intricate rocky forests in eastern Canada to mountainous terrain in the west.For visiting orienteers, Canada offers the opportunity to combine racing with spectacular outdoor experiences. Major terrains & landscapes

• Canadian Shield – Ontario & Quebec: Rocky forests, countless lakes, marshes and glacial landforms create intricate terrain where precise navigation and careful route choice are essential.• Mountain forests – British Columbia & Alberta: Steep slopes, detailed contours and varied vegetation offer physically demanding orienteering, often surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.• Prairies & parklands – Central Canada: Open grasslands, rolling hills, wooded valleys and distinctive erosion features provide a very different experience from traditional forest orienteering.
